Match Report

Warstones Wanderers Lions V F.C. Perton
Venue - Grosvenor Park FC - Bloxwich
19th Feb 2008

The themometer had hit zero when the matched kicked off, the light fog
and cold air not dampening the enthusiastic crowd.

The match began at a high tempo with both teams pressing the opposition
goal in the first half. Lion's Andy Moores and Jordan Stevens, the first
to test the "man of the match" Perton goal keeper.
Perton's attacks bought all four Lions defenders of Aidan Eastup, Alex
Birch, Ryan Haynes and Shoaib Malik into action from searching Perton
long balls, but with Jack Gibbons mopping up in goal for Lions, the
scored remained at 0 - 0.

The second half found Lions doing the majority of the pressing,
industrious midfield displays from Callum Webber-Waterfield, Harvir Gill
and Dray Sheperd forced balls to the Lions attacking front line. Right
wing balls in from Rhys Owen proved a constant threat finding firstly
Harvey Webb and then Jordan Turner in the box...both shots finding the
arms of the Perton keeper.

It took until the 50th minute of this 60 minute match for the dead lock
to be broken. A long throw from the Lions central midfielder, Alex
Purchase, was flicked on by Turner and found captain Luke Mason in space
centre of goal, 12 yards out his shot found the roof of the net to score
what ulimately proved the winning goal.
